The Singapore dollar is the official currency of the Republic of Singapore. Its currency symbol is S$ and its nickname is the ‘Sing’. You may see it abbreviated to SGD. There are 100 cents to one Singapore dollar.

As its name suggests, the main country to use Singapore dollars is Singapore itself. But it’s also customarily accepted in Brunei, just as the Brunei dollar is customarily accepted in Singapore.

The highest value Singapore dollar banknote is 10,000 dollar SGD note. At the time of writing, it’s worth about 5,860 pound sterling (GBP). The lowest value denomination in the currency is the 1 cent coin.
Other denominations are the 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1,000 dollar banknotes, and coins worth 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents, plus a 1 dollar coin.
